Greetings, Bahrain Middle High School Families and Community!

We are excited to share the second edition of our school newsletter for the 2025–26 school year. The past few weeks have been filled with energy, learning, and connection, and it has been wonderful to see our scholars settling into routines and engaging fully in their classes and activities.

As a school community, we remain committed to fostering a safe, supportive, and challenging environment where every student can thrive. In this edition, you’ll find highlights of recent events, essential updates, and reminders about upcoming opportunities for students and families to get involved.

We are grateful for your continued partnership and support. Together, we will make this school year memorable and successful for our scholars.

Warm regards,

Shana Seawright, Principal

School Nursing Services

'Health Services School Nurse'

DoDEA School Nursing Services aims to optimize learning by fostering student wellness. The school nurse serves as the health service expert, providing health care to students/staff and implementing interventions that address both actual and potential health and safety conditions. The school nurse collaborates with the school administrator to promote the health and academic success of students and serves as the liaison between the school, community, and health care systems. This collaborative effort creates opportunities to build capacity for students' self-care, resilience, and learning.

The school nurse's responsibilities include:

  1. Providing leadership in promoting personal and environmental health and safety by managing communicable diseases, monitoring immunizations, and providing consultation and health-related education to students and staff to promote school health and academic success;
  2. Providing quality health care and intervening with actual and potential health problems through screenings (mass vision and hearing for grades K or 1, 3, 5, 7, 10; color vision for 1st-grade boys; and for students referred for special education, reevaluation, Student Support Teams or by teachers). Parents may opt out in writing for mass vision and hearing screenings. Services also include health assessments, nursing interventions, and development of health and emergency care plans to ensure students can safely participate in school;
  3. Providing case management services to direct care for students with chronic health conditions in order to ensure their safety and increase their access to the educational program; and
  4. Collaborating with school and community-based resources to reduce health-related barriers to student learning, improve access to health care and develop school-community partnerships to support academic achievement and student success.
