Ms. Seawright can nominate five outstanding 11th graders for the 2025 Lott Leadership Institute for Rising 12th Graders, hosted by the University of Mississippi’s Trent Lott Leadership Institute. This prestigious program, aimed at developing future civic leaders, will take place in June or July. Each year, 40 students are selected to engage in academic courses, collaborative projects, service-learning, and cultural activities. A highlight of the program is a trip to Washington, D.C., for direct interaction with lawmakers. The Lott Leadership Institute for Rising 12th Graders is a month-long dual credit program that offers high school juniors the opportunity to develop leadership skills and to realize their own potential as leaders.
Located within the University of Mississippi’s Summer College, this program brings together student leaders from across the world to learn about leadership skills and government issues. The program affords them opportunities to acquiring public speaking and networking skills while meeting with national leaders for dialogue about contemporary issues. Students earn seven hours of college credits at the UM Oxford campus.Â
The ideal candidate for the Lott Leadership Institute for Rising 12th Graders is a student who shows a strong commitment to service and leadership with a genuine interest in public leadership, government, and civic engagement. Ideally, the candidate should be involved in school organizations, their community, or both. Â
Traditionally, the program includes a visit to Washington, D.C. Detailed information and an itinerary will be shared during orientation.
