A team from Bahrain Middle High School earned third place at the BuildHer CityHack 2025, a regional hackathon hosted by the Royal University for Women (RUW). The event brought together more than 60 students from 15 teams representing eight private schools across the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The team—composed of Fatima Shafqat, Zara Haroon, Noor Yanes and Breena Youngblood—was recognized for its innovative design solution focused on smart, women-friendly benches for public spaces. Their project integrated elements of sustainability, safety, comfort, and technology, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.

The competition encouraged students to develop creative solutions to real-world urban challenges, with a focus on inclusive and forward-thinking city planning. Over two days, participants brainstormed, sketched, prototyped, and presented their ideas to a panel of judges.

Bahrain Middle High School’s team earned a $600 cash prize and a 50% tuition scholarship to RUW, valued at $33,125. The team was guided by Mr. Larhone Gayle, whose mentorship supported the students throughout the event and helped foster a strong foundation in design thinking and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

The achievement reflects the school's commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and preparing students for global citizenship and leadership in an evolving world.
